West Kirby is one of the most Beautiful Coastal areas of the Wirral Peninsula, but it holds many dark stories. You will discover authentic truths, Secret Tunnels, Local Myths, Ghost Stories all the Legendary Tales about the old Village's dark past. Join The West Kirby Ghosts Myths & Legends Walk for 90 minutes of history and mystery in the Old Town. Our Historian takes you on a walk steeped in history and brings to life stories of old legends, smugglers, murders and of course ghosts. Explore the dark Echo Lane, Historic Buildings, Monuments and Graveyard that make up the oldest parts of West Kirby Old Town. The location point isa 17th Century Historic Inn situated 5 mins away from The Railway Station and Bus stop so it is easy to reach us.

Of old, West Kirby was noted for its ghosts. One haunted the narrowest part of the lane between West Kirby and Caldy, while the ghost of Mrs Glegg, a former lady of the manor, was said to walk abroad at night on the Mount (the part of Caldy Hill near Kirby Mount). The most feared ghost was “he who walked in Highfield Lane… nobody was bold enough to encounter him when darkness set in…” There is also the Legend of a Monk who haunts Echo Lane. He is seen without legs floating up and down the lane, maybe you will encounter him when you join us. Embrace the Autumn Darkness and find out for yourself.

Find out about West Kirby’s most famous People such as John Robin,  Philip De Gruchy and the legend of his strange ecclesiastical symbols built into the walls of West Kirby. The Great Storm of 1839, The Old Village of West Kirby, The famous Viking "Hogback" (the name Hogback referring to its curving shape) grave cover stone which is kept at St. Bridget's Church, The Hidden Tunnels & Hilbre Island connections, Smugglers secrets and of course the Ghost Legends. We will be speaking of lost villages of Wirral as well as other Viking legends as we over look the River Dee. This Enlightening Tour will take you on a journey through time.

Join our Historian & Author for an evening of Historical Facts, Light Comedy and many Dark Tales. This is a Historic Tour like no other. Tours are available on Tuesday evenings followed by drinks back at The White Lion (optional) a 17th Century pub fabled to have Tunnels beneath and links to the Smugglers of the River Dee.

On arrival, You will be greeted by our tour guide who will take your around old West Kirby introducing you to it's many  myths, Legends, Historic Tales and much more.. We will be taking you to an old Graveyard, The Old Village and you can Take Part in the hunt for the De Gruchy symbols that are hidden around West Kirby. You will also walk the Lane supposedly Haunted by a Monk. We will be stopping for Views across the River Dee as we tell you tales of smuggling in days gone by. Following the Tour we will be finishing with drinks in the White Lion pub.

Meeting Outside The White Lion Pub, 51 Grange Road, West Kirby, CH48 4EE. Get a drink before hand and Please be in the front beer garden at least 15 minutes before the stated time to meet our Historian.

The White Lion is a Seventeenth century pub, said to have a tunnel beneath it, leading Vine Cottage. Part of Darmonds Green, a small hamlet previously called Hill Houses.

You can reach West Kirby Via Train, Bus or Car. Using the Wirral Line from Liverpool, you will need the train marked West Kirby. Via car please enter post code in to Sat Nav CH48 7HE. If you are travelling over by Bus, please use Merseytravel Bus 437.
